Poem: How now, my heart?

52

By misfit

How now, my heart?

How now, my failing heart?

Wherefrom this love which will not let me be?

Ere I long-striven to evade thy fatal charm ...

Thou make the fool of me!

An I did think me clear beyond such fragrant fancy

Flitting as the wind-blown seed: with Summer passed,

E'en it chance-settled on this stony soul

To rooten deeper than the with'rin weed.

What price, indeed, that stern resolve which cannot longer last?

Enough! Enough ...

With my life done, an' your, but late begun,

I will not claim thee mine.

Though better day, with wiser way

We may yet close entwine,

Until that dawn, can but await

A fair and sure divine.

What then thy will:

Where shalt thou trace this frail and restless vine?

Say kindly, Love -

And hold my heart in thine.

Misfit.

(Read 'Love Undying.')

in the spirit of Shakespeare and with lines as memorable, you carry on a fine tradition in both poetry and humanity, my friend.

Not Shake-speare, fair heart, for as Idunn, it was but happy nom de plume. Think you appropriate?

you write of honour, time and Love Divine; in metered cupid arrows as each line~

it's magnificent, tom.  :)

Good morning to you and you may wish me a good night as I'm about to go to bed. It is almost 5 a.m. here and way past even my usual insomniac bedtime. :waves:
